A Richer Benefit for the Building Material Pension
Two elements of your pension plan are getting better. Effective September 1, 2026, your benefit accrual rate for each pension credit you earn will increase from $104 to $114. That’s an additional $10 per month in retirement for every pension credit you earn—past and future credits! Plus, if you earned at least 15 pension credits after September 1, 2000, you’ll get an improved supplemental lump-sum distribution upon your retirement. The Supplemental Retirement Lump Sum Benefit is doubling from $3,000 per pension credit to $6,000, which means you can start your retirement in style.

Effective Now: Improvements to Women’s Health Benefits in the Medical Plan
In response to member feedback, the Trustees have approved enhancements to the medical plan. Effective July 1, 2025, the following services are now covered at 100% even before you’ve met your deductible:
- Annual well-woman preventive care, including OB/GYN visits, pap smear screening, and HPV testing
- One mammogram per year for women age 35 and older
The Fund pays in full for these services only when you visit providers that participate in the BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois network. To find a network provider, visit the BCBSIL website.
