Effective Now: Improvements to Women’s Health Benefits in the Medical Plan

In response to member feedback, the Trustees have approved enhancements to the medical plan. Effective July 1, 2025, the following services are now covered at 100% even before you’ve met your deductible:

Annual well-woman preventive care, including OB/GYN visits, pap smear screening, and HPV testing
One mammogram per year for women age 35 and older

The Fund pays in full for these services only when you visit providers that participate in the BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois network. To find a network provider, visit the BCBSIL website.

Please expect to receive an updated Summary Plan Description (SPD) by mail. Your SPD includes detailed information about how your benefits work, how to file claims, and more. If you cannot find the information you need on this website, your SPD is a good place to look next.
